What People Say about Bridget Smith !!!

Maya Navarro wrote on Facebook.
Bridget was a light and a great friend to so many people. Her friendships were so special and I can see on social media just how many lives she has touched with her free spirit and big smile.
Bridget and I met on the first day of 3rd grade in the bathroom.
The day before I had broken my collarbone from a bicycle accident and I had to wear a brace on my shoulders and I showed up to school so uncomfortable for my first day. My mom and I walked into the bathroom and saw a new girl washing her hands. My mom asked her name and she replied “Bridget”, and my mom said “Bridget, this is Maya. The two of you are going to be best friends”.
We looked at each other and smiled awkwardly but what had just happened was the stars aligning for us to meet and embark on wonderful friendship that would hold a special place in each other’s hearts forever.
Bridget and I were put into each other’s lives to learn so many lessons about ourselves and each other and looking back on how we grew up and how our lives changed throughout the years, our love and respect for one another endured.
Bridget and I could make something fun out of nothing and we spent our time being silly and outright ridiculous during most of our time together. We had pet staplers in 4th grade and she accidentally stapled her to index fingers together in the middle of class, after that we switched to pet paintballs lol.
We were obsessed with the movie Holes, experimented with make up and hair dye, created alter personas named Clover and Grover who lived in the creek behind her house, listened to classics like Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears but also adventured into underground music like T.A.T.U. , when we got our licenses we would go to the dog park in Ithaca even though we didn’t have dogs, we joined the cheerleading team together our freshman year, and I’ll never forget our choreographed dance routine to Switch by Will Smith that we performed at the Spencer Picnic.
There are so many memories, so many stories, and I am sure I have told you some about her because they are some of my fondest and silliest.
Bridget, I love you, thank you for your wild, encouraging, pure, kind, understanding, uplifting, and extraordinary friendship. You will always be a part of me.
Rest In Peace.
